Wednesday night, 20 overs, F Troop, 25 runs and retire at the lôn pentref y Wig…disarmingly, no Kenny
Wick CC - 106 for 7 (20.0): Russ Milne 27*, Steve Collins 25* F Troop CC - 107 for 2 (10.4): Leo Kelly 2-15
Wick were to bat first. Russ had a plan to beat F Troop, he had it written down. It didn’t say for Dicky to get out second ball but that’s what happened. To paraphrase Mike Tyson, everyone has a plan until they get ball to the face, which is what happened to Col later. Fortunately Steve and Russ stuck to the plan and both reached 25 (FYI Paul got 14) and Wick reached 106 off the 20 overs.
F Troop smashed through the runs at epic speed. The only Wick highlight was two wickets in two balls from the Burnley Lara Leo. First a catch behind from the battle scarred Col. Next ball the incoming Trooper hooks a ball high into the Wick evening sky; Morgan is underneath it, Russ starts back peddling shouting like a Finding Nemo seagull “mine, mine, mine, mine”, “Morgan’s”, and they catch the ball together. Half and half, a Welsh classic.
F Troop got the total, even after a last run, or was it, odd run out, off just 10.4 overs. Back to the Lamb where the conversation escalated quicker than the run chase.
Thanks to Wayne and team, next game vs another Barrington select XI; Bridgend, Sunday 21st July.
